Jennifer L. Wang

Biography

Jennifer joined the University Counsel’s Office as Senior University Counsel in January 2026. In this role, she represents the University as lead counsel for tort and employment litigation matters in both state and federal courts. She further acts as the principal liaison to outside counsel on complex tort litigation. In addition, Jennifer advises University stakeholders on general risk management issues and plays a central role in the University’s initiatives to identify, measure and manage institutional exposure and risk.

Prior to coming to the University, Jennifer was a partner at Costello, Cooney & Fearon, PLLC. In her more than 15 years in private practice, Jennifer represented defendants, including educational institutions, religious institutions, national businesses, and individuals, in an array of high-profile, large-scale lawsuits. Jennifer began her legal career as an Appellate Court Attorney for the Appellate Division, Fourth Department. 

Jennifer earned her J.D. from Vermont Law School and her B.A., cum laude, in journalism/mass communications and English from St. Bonaventure University. Jennifer is licensed to practice law in New York State and is also admitted in the Northern District of New York, as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.  

She currently serves as a director for the Onondaga County Bar Association.
