Melinda M. Lothes

Biography

Melinda Lothes joined Syracuse University in 2018 and currently serves as Senior Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property and Business Transactions. In this role, she serves as primary legal counsel to the Athletics Department, Advancement and External Affairs, the Office of Trademark Licensing, the Division of Marketing, and SU Press, and advises other university units on a wide range of contracts and trademark and copyright matters. Prior to joining Syracuse, Melinda was an attorney for the Oneida Indian Nation and its casino, hospitality and other enterprises. She also practiced in the Cleveland office of Baker & Hostetler LLP, a large national law firm, where she focused on intellectual property, transactional, and general corporate matters. Melinda earned her J.D, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her B.A. in political science and psychology from the University of Rochester.
